Marketing Peak District & Derbyshire: Tourism Impact Survey, August 2021

We currently have a few opportunities available for you, but can I start with a request for you to help us so that we can help you?  Please would you take 10 minutes to complete our latest business impact survey?

Your feedback is vital for us to continue to lobby for the support you need to fully recover from the impacts of the pandemic.

Marketing Peak District & Derbyshire still believe that it’s important to monitor the impacts surrounding the Coronavirus pandemic. As the situation is continually changing, we are working to understand how this is still affecting your business.

We are continuing to work hard to attract and welcome all visitors and work is underway to create a compelling Autumn /Winter domestic campaign encouraging visitors to continue to stay with us across the shoulder season. We will of course be encouraging all visitors to adopt responsible practices during their visit.

According to national research, the scale of the staff recruitment challenge that businesses are currently facing has doubled within a month. According to UK Hospitality 100% of businesses are reporting that they have vacancies across their business. The vacancy rate is currently at 10%, equating to 200,000 job roles nationally, this is being further exacerbated by track and trace ‘pinging has gone through the roof wiping out entire teams’.

We know how incredibly proactive the industry has been and the steps they have taken to mitigate the challenge but this problem is exacerbated by a wide range of factors including: changes to post Brexit immigration policy, we are all recruiting at once; the impact of Covid on employee choices; a super aging population and infrastructure challenges such as a lack of affordable housing and transport connectivity.

Your support in completing this short survey will provide us with valuable evidence as we work with VisitEngland/VisitBritain and the Government to ensure that we are able to alert them to the impact on the area’s visitor economy. We are also working in close collaboration with Derbyshire County Council and others in order to continue to create a more localised response.
