Mansfield & District & Pye Hill & District Male Voice Choirs
United Reformed Church, High Pavement, Sutton in Ashfield
Saturday 11 June at 7.00 p.m.

Mansfield & District Male Voice Choir and the Pye Hill and District Male Voice Choir are to hold a much awaited joint concert which will raise funds in support of the vital work of the John Eastwood Hospice at the United Reform Church, High Pavement, Sutton in Ashfield on Saturday 11 June.

The work of the John Eastwood Hospice is essential to both Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire communities and anyone who has received care or visited family and friends at the hospice will fully appreciate and understand the vital work undertaken. Without the commitment of 280 volunteers and associated fund raising it would not be possible to provide these essential caring services, helping people with the most challenging circumstances of life. This is your opportunity to help support the hospice by coming along to the concert and also having a wonderful time!

The concert will provide many contrasts of music from both choirs with several  inspiring, sensitive and rousing joint items by the massed choirs, including ‘Let All Men Sing’, ‘The Rose’, ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, ‘Let There Be Peace On Earth’, ‘Gwahoddiad’, ‘American Trilogy’ and ‘Morte Criste’ and combined with audience to lift the roof ‘Guide Me O Thou Great Redeemer’. Both choir’s will also sing separately some of their favourite songs and a selection of solos and duets. These include for Mansfield &DMVC ‘ African Trilogy’, ‘Softly As I Leave You’, ‘My Way’, ‘The Bold Gendarmes’ (Duet), ‘Make you Feel My Love’, ‘When the Saints Go Marching In’, ‘I’m Goin Up a Yonder’ and more and songs from ‘The GentleMen’, a nine man close harmony group from the choir.

The Pye Hill MVC will sing ‘Llanfair’, ‘Speed Your Journey’, ‘’The Rhythm of Life’, ‘I Write the Songs’, ‘Bring Him Home’, ‘Jamaica Farewell’ and  also two contrasting solos. Both choirs are very popular with ongoing full and exciting concert programmes. Recently, the Mansfield MVC had a highly successful concert at the Albert Hall, Nottingham and amongst many commitments look forward to a prestigious concert at the Royal Albert Hall, London with massed 1000 Welsh voices.

The Pye Hill & District MVC have in recent weeks taken part in a joint concert with four choirs at Derby Cathedral and have just returned from a very successful tour of Devon, including a joint concert with Brixham Orpheus Male Voice Choir. The tour culminated in being invited to take part in a future international male voice choir festival in Cornwall and also singing in a major event for the Royal British Legion in Plymouth in December.

Everyone is welcome to this exciting concert and tickets are only £6.00 available from Malcolm Hill on 07706 036946; Gordon Blanc 01623 796355 and Geoff Mansfield 01623 402852.  Help your local Hospice and have a great time!
