Memorial Garden Unveiled At Local Care Home

Family-owned funeral directors G Wathall & Son and Shelton Lock Care Home have celebrated National Care Home Day with the official unveiling of a memorial garden.

Wathall’s, which was recognised in the Derby Telegraph Business Awards for their contribution to the community, donated a selection of plants for the garden.

Care home deputy manager Nikki Millar said: “We are delighted with the Memorial Garden which will be a lovely place for staff, residents and their family and visitors to sit quietly to remember loved ones who have passed away and leave a lasting tribute to them.”

Manager Josie Woodman added: “We are very grateful to Wathall’s for their generosity in helping us to create this garden which is a special place to sit and reflect and will benefit everyone for years to come.”

Helen Wathall, the fifth generation of the family to head up the company with offices in Macklin Street, Borrowash, Alvaston and Ashbourne, added: “Shelton Lock Care Home staff and residents love their gardens and work very hard to keep them looking beautiful so we were keen to help them create this special memorial area.

“The results are lovely and I hope that it will provide everyone connected with the care home a peaceful place to sit and remember happy times with loved ones for many years to come.”
