New Prospectus Focuses on Career Aspirations

Derby College has launched a new website to coincide with the launch of its 2016 full- time courses prospectus to help young people focus on their career aspirations.

The new-look website www.derby-college.ac.uk incorporates an innovative Career Coach programme – enabling users to input which job they have their sights set on and the qualifications they will need to achieve those dreams.

All of the full-time courses available from September 2016 are available on the website, supported by the printed prospectus which is available through schools, career advisers and by calling 0800 028 0289.

Derby College Chief Executive Mandie Stravino explained: “Our focus is to prepare young people for the world of work and to ensure that the qualifications that we provide are in line with the skills that local employers need in the workplace.

“The Career Coach programme on the website is a valuable resource for young people who have an idea of what they want to do in the future and gives them a clear path on how to achieve their goals.

“Once at College, learners are able to benefit from a wide range of activities and work experience to further boost their CVs and increase their employability skills.

“This includes our innovative Employer Academy programme – linking learners with local employers on a structured programme which leads to a guaranteed interview at the end of their programme.

“Our tie in with Microsoft through the Risual Academy also ensures that IT and digital skills are embedded into every course which, research shows, are in high demand across the spectrum of industries in the 21st century workplace.”
