FOLK NIGHT IV

Back by popular demand and featuring not one, not two, not three, but four fabulous bands to celebrate the closing of the New Mills Festival 2019. Folk Night IV will be held at the Butterfly House at The Torrs, 34 Market Street, new mills on Sunday 29th September from 7.00pm.

Birte Paulsen will be kicking off the lineup. Inspired by Folk, Chanson, Americana and Scandinavian eccentricity, Birte delivers dark Indie Folk with a sigh of Nordic melancholy. Birte will be followed by Brighton based band Bird In The Belly Bird a collective made up of solo artist Jinnwoo, folk duo Hickory Signals and instrumentalist Tom Pryor. Together they have spent the last 12 months recording songs and stories that have either never before been recorded or are rarely recorded - all set to contemporary folk music.

Next up will be local band The Gally Canters to present to you an eclectic mixture of foot-stomping folk from Ireland and elsewhere. The evening will be rounded off in exuberant style by Galivantes with a mix of bouncy punky reggae, balkan disco skank honed with their daily observations of life in general and a subliminal power to the people message. A UK cross between Sublime and The Pixies. If there is gonna be a non-violent revolution, there needs to be a soundtrack.
