St Peters Quarter Businesses Join Tidy Up Event

Representatives from businesses in Derby’s St Peters Quarter Business Improvement District (BID) have held their first Tidy Day of the year - joining an early-morning litter pick to highlight their commitment to keeping the area tidy.

The Business Tidy event is part of the St Peters Quarter five-year BID programme which includes activities to improve the environment and visitor experience in the area.

Teams from a number of businesses including Costa Coffee, McDonalds, NCP, Tesco and Derby Riverlights were joined by the St Peters Quarter Rangers, and representatives from Derby City Council’s Regeneration department.

The event was supported by the Streetpride team and was held as part of the BID area’s support for the national Spring Clean initiative, organised by Keep Britain Tidy.

Helen Wathall is chair of St Peters Quarter and Managing Director of G Wathall & Son funeral directors in Macklin Street.

She said: “Clean and tidy streets will attract more visitors to the area so these events are important to encourage both businesses and the public to take more pride in the city centre and play our own part in keeping the streets clean.”
