Superbike Champs Open Refurbished Gym

World superbike ace Alex Lowes and current leader of the British Superbike Championship Leon Haslam have officially opened Derby College’s refurbished Fitness Centre at the Johnson Building in Pride Park.

The sportsmen are regularly put through their paces by personal trainer Kirk Gibbons who is based at the gym – using a wide range of the cardio and strength equipment that has been upgraded as part of the £70,000 refurbishment.

Alex Lowes has been training at the fitness centre since 2011 and Leon Haslam has been a regular there since 2000.

Alex said: “This is the perfect gym to train at as it has all the equipment that we need and Kirk is a brilliant trainer.

“We regularly train alongside the students here and people who are members here and there is always a great and supportive atmosphere.”

The Derby College fitness centre is open Monday to Friday 8.30am to 9pm and weekends 9am to 1pm.  Prices start from £3 per session and monthly membership from £12 a month and there is currently a free two week trial offer available for new customers.
