What's coming up... and can you help?

Have you considered volunteering at the Barn?

Over the past four years the Barn has become a community hub in the heart of Dronfield – hosting all sorts of events, activities and local groups. Our Heritage Lottery Funding has now finished and 2019 will be the first year the Barn has to be fully self-sustainable – meaning our Volunteers are more important than ever!
Since we opened, volunteers have been essential in keeping the Barn as a place for all to enjoy. Quite simply, if it wasn’t for volunteers, it would not be possible to do what we do! Whether it’s developing our exhibitions, working in our gardens come rain or shine, or helping to organise and run our busy programme of events and activities, volunteers are the lifeblood of the Barn.
Maria Smith, Dronfield Hall Barn’s Activities and Interpretation Manager added ‘As part of a recent evaluation we had to complete for the Heritage Lottery Fund, we worked out that volunteers have contributed over £1 million of volunteer time to the project – an incredible achievement!’

We are always on the lookout for new volunteers, of course. There are many benefits of volunteering - it helps you gain confidence, learn skills and take on different challenges. Additionally, the Barn has become an important part of Dronfield’s community, offering a place to meet new people and make new friends from the local area.
There are a number of volunteer opportunities available including:
•    Stewarding our exhibitions
•    Helping out at events
•    Scanning and researching old images of Dronfield
•    Gardening and walks maintenance
•    Marketing and promotion
to name but a few! Whatever you’re interested in there will be something you can help us out with!
‘Our volunteers are a very friendly group, who help give the Barn such a welcoming atmosphere. Their involvement with the project has allowed us to run big events such as our Arts Festival earlier this year, and the Medieval Festival - that wouldn’t have been possible otherwise,’ Maria said.
“The staff and trustees would like to extend our thanks to everyone involved with the Barn over the past four years and we’d love to see some new faces join our team in 2019!”
If you’ve ever sat in our café and thought about getting involved, don’t be shy and drop us a line at dronfieldheritagetrust@outlook.com to find out more!
