We are delighted to be a part of the Derby Book Festival hosting the debut author evening with: Mahsuda Snaith, as well as on the Refugee week programme with "Long Journey home" exhibition.

Local charity to host an evening of Art Appreciation

Crossroads Derbyshire would like to welcome you to an evening of art appreciation, fine food and wine, hosted by Ghislaine and Michael Howard.

Ghislaine Howard was named as a Woman of The Year in 2008 for her contribution to art and society and is internationally recognised as a painter of powerful and expressive means, her works deal with the human condition charting and interpreting our shared human experience. Ghislaine’s husband Michael is an art historian and Lowry authority.

JUST a few places on our monthly life drawing session on Sunday 20th May

This month, our life model is Stuart and, as usual, the untutored session starts at 10am and will finish at around 12.30pm, including a 30 minute break part-way through.

Refreshments are available and included within the price but you are welcome to bring your own along if you wish. The session costs £12 and you will need to bring your own drawing materials and equipment along for use during the session.

Festival rolls out the red carpet for gala night

Britain’s favourite opera singer Lesley Garrett rolls out the red carpet on July 6 when Buxton International Festival raises the curtain on its 2018 programme with a gala night of unforgettable tunes from the world of musical theatre and light opera.

Bernstein, Bizet, Berlin and Broadway come to Buxton Opera House for a feast of favourites such as Summertime, Some Enchanted Evening and I Could Have Danced All Night with the Northern Chamber Orchestra and soloists from Opera North.

Lessons of history predict happiness for Meghan and Harry

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle should have a happy marriage if the lessons of history are anything to go by, says author Anne de Courcy, who is coming to Buxton International Festival to talk about her book on American millionairesses marrying into British nobility. 

America’s “Dollar Princesses” who married impoverished British aristocrats in the 19th Century not only saved plenty of country houses with their cash  –  they probably saved the country itself, said Anne, who will talk about The Husband Hunters on July 19.

and a world-class landscape to explore the challenge in the relationship between heritage
and culture.

Cenote - Of People and Places

Come to this concert on Saturday 9th June at The Institute, Tideswell*.

Brought to the village by Tideswell Theatre, Cenote is tonight a duo consisting of Carol Fieldhouse (song-writer, vocals, piano and guitar) and Nigel Corbett (violin, bouzouki and guitar)*.

Last Night of the Proms Brass Band and Organ Concert

All the “Last Night of the Proms” favourites including Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1 can be enjoyed in Swanwick’s St. Andrew’s Church on 23rd June when Championship Section Blidworth Welfare Band and professional organist Keith Hearnshaw combine their talents in a night of music to suit all tastes. The evening begins with refreshments from 7.00 pm with music starting at 7.30pm. Tickets are £7.50 including refreshments and are available at the door or in advance by calling 01773 605291.
