First Art is for those who think “art” isn’t for them. Our vision is to inspire communities
within the former coalfields of NE Derbyshire and NE Nottinghamshire to experience and get
involved in the arts as both audiences and participants. The project, based at Creswell Crags
on the Derbys/Notts border, is a partnership of five cultural and community organisations
working together as part of the Arts Council’s Creative People and Places programme. Now

An informal open discussion about the importance of social media, branding yourself as an artist and how to promote yourself successfully online, featuring representatives from Derby Book Festival and Small Print Company.
Music enthusiasts are being invited to take a bow at a cabaret which the star is performing as a thank-you for all their hard work.
The Friends of Buxton International Festival are hosting the evening of music based on The Great American Songbook performed by their Patron Wyn Davies, director of music at New Zealand Opera.
“Being a Friend involves a lot of giving,” said Wyn, an internationally renowned conductor who first appeared at the Buxton Festival in 1983 when he conducted the children’s opera James and the Giant Peach.

After an absence of four years, the Belper Short Play Festival will return in 2019.
Short Play Co-Ordinator SUE REANEY said “The Short Play Festival and the Belperamble which followed were very successful. When local writers and actors suggested bringing short plays back into the Festival programme I was thrilled to take on the challenge.”

pianist who possesses outstanding virtuosic skills combined with true musicality and a refined sense
of style." Known as one of the world's finest pianists, Sergei is set to play a concert in Belper.
