Magic and more at Buxton Fringe

Magic and more at Buxton Fringe

Some of the most intriguing offerings at this year’s Fringe can be found in the ever-intriguing And More section of the programme.

There are no less than three magic shows in the Fringe’s And More… section. The ever popular High Peak Magic Circle offers stunning table magic in the Octagon in the Pavilion Gardens. Legendary magician the Great Baldini introduces us to the dark arts of the ILLUSIONATI - elite magicians controlling the world - in his Pump Room show and over at the Rotunda there is a chance to see amazing Magic & Mentalism from Caspar Thomas.

At the Green Man Gallery, French artist Yvette Ribot-Smith offers a mixed-media performance including the display of 16 oil paintings as well as dance, spoken word, piano and song as she explores challenging social issues in novel ways.

Buxton Pride Picnic is back as Stone and Water celebrates the LGBTQ+ community with cakes, games and frivolity in the Pavilion Gardens. Meanwhile over in Chelmorton there is an entire week-long festival featuring Sunday cream teas, a ceilidh, dog show and more.

It is always a good moment to enjoy a Fringe Beer courtesy of Buxton Brewery with 20p from every pint going to the Fringe. For an insight into the history of Buxton Pubs, Julian Cohen, author of a new book on the subject, will be in conversation with Simon Fussell of Buxton Civic Association at Buxton Brewery Tap House.

Says Fringe Chair Stephen Walker: “The And More section always offers delightful surprises as Fringe shows defy categorisation and find new ways to entertain and stimulate us.”

The Fringe wishes to thank High Peak Borough Council, its Fringe Friends and the town’s many Fringe supporters and venues.
