Life drawing session - Sunday 16th September

Monthly Life Drawing at StraightCurves. Life model is Stuart ,the untutored session starts at 10am and will finish at around 12.30pm, including a 30 minute break part-way through.

Refreshments are available and included within the price but you are welcome to bring your own along if you wish. The session costs £12.50 and you will need to bring your own drawing materials and equipment along for use during the session.

Dance Theatre Uncovers the Real Story of Romeo and Juliet

Lost Dog present their brand new show ‘Juliet and Romeo’ at Déda this autumn on Thursday 4 October at 7.30pm. The critically acclaimed performance sees Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet, having survived but now in their 40s, in the midst of a mid-life crisis.

World Premiere of 'Will Ye go to Flanders' comes to Spital Arts

Devised by well known singer & musician Lester Simpson and Chesterfield musician Nigel Corbett.  A completely new show as part of the commemorations of the end of World War 1.

This event will be hosted at Spital Arts on Friday September 21st at 7.30pm

Could you design Buxton Fringe's 40th programme cover?

Following this summer’s successful bumper Buxton Fringe, organisers are already planning for next year’s eagerly awaited 40th Fringe and have announced a new, open-to-all art competition to create the 2019 programme cover.

The Fringe has a reputation for spectacular covers with 2018’s programme using a vibrant design from artist Joanna Allen of New Mills, winner of last year’s Fringe competition.

Burbage Band premieres outreach children’s masterpieces

Burbage School was the venue for a very special world premiere when pupils heard their own musical compositions performed for the first time.

The Festival’s Celia Dunk had taught the youngsters how to write short pieces of music during outreach sessions at the school, and invited Burbage Band, one of the oldest in the world, to come and play them.

Double delight as Croots Farm Shop scores success in the Great Taste Awards 2018

Croots Farm Shop in Derbyshire is celebrating after two of its products were hailed as ‘outstanding’ at the annual Great Taste Awards.

Croots Sausage Roll and Croots Old Goat Ale were both awarded two-star accolades in the awards, which are widely regarded as the ‘Oscars’ of the food world and the ‘epicurean equivalent of the Booker prize’.

Organised by the Guild of Fine Food, the awards attracted more than 12,500 entries. Fewer than 15% of products achieved two stars and earned the description of ‘outstanding…above and beyond delicious’.
