Launching today: The UK Creative Industries report & #WeAreCreative

This morning, Creative Industries Federation and Creative England have jointly published our major new report, The UK Creative Industries: unleashing the power and potential of creativity. It is the first publication from us as the Creative UK Group and we're really excited to share it with you.  Alongside this, we have launched our new member-led campaign,  #WeAreCreative.  

Museum of Making: Makers Assemble!

Our annual Maker Faire returns this year with a new name – Assemble – Derby’s very own Festival of Making. And what better place to hold a Festival championing makers and their work than at the new Museum of Making, located at Derby Silk Mill on what is widely regarded as the site of the world’s first factory?

We’re inviting makers from across the country, with projects of all shapes and sizes, to showcase their work at Assemble in October, and to share their passion and skills, talk about their processes and encourage others to have a go at making themselves.

Business Students Enter The Dragons Den

Derby College Group (DCG) recently hosted a Dragon’s Den style event for around 150 Business students to present their plans for a new product.

Marresa director Nikki Johnson was part of a five-strong panel of judges alongside Sarah Smith, Bettina Crofts and Marcus Gayle from the College and Merv Sheldon who runs Bridesfayre.

Florence Nightingale: A New Film

'Florence Nightingale : Scenes From A Life' is a digital film set for viewings from 12 May 2022.

Worldwide celebrations for Florence Nightingale's 200th birthday in 2020 were curtailed by pandemic restrictions. One casualty was a new play, 'Kissing Miss Nightingale's Shadow'. However, the team behind the play, decided they would not be beaten. The result is a new digital film that will be made available free of charge to Universities, Colleges, Nursing Schools and all Educational Establishments worldwide.
